It is possible, but difficult, to bring your pet with you to Qingdao. The city's regulations are different for different animals but every pet owner will need to file paperwork, pay certain fee, and, if the pet is a dog, register the animal with the local police.

You need to pay attention to the fact that some properties compount do not accept pets. Bringing your pet in Qingdao might then restict your housing choices.

Bring Your Pet to Qingdao

Airlines
Not all airlines accept pets. Those that do offer three options:

• Carry-on: For cats or small dogs, some airlines will allow you to put your pet under your seat in a hand-carry kennel.
• Luggage-on-board: For medium to large- sized dogs, your pet can travel in the hold in a kennel.
• Manifest Cargo: When you are unable to fly along with your pet, a pet relocation company can arrange for your pet to fly on it's own in a kennel in the hold.

Pet Quarantine
You can usually keep your pet with you at home during the quarentine period (you have to present your permanent residential details in China). However, quarantine officers will come and inspect your pet within 30 days, and charge a small nominal fee, or your pet has to go through one month quarantine at an authorized facility.

Dog License
If your pet is a dog, it must be registered with the Qingdao local Police. The cost is approximately RMB 3,000~5,000.

Exporting Pets
